- Physical activity helps to relax the muscles and relieve tension in the body. Since the body and mind are so closely linked, when your body feels better so, too, will your mind.

- Form of Feminist therapy (a supportive open group that helps the victim understand that such violence is a societal problem, not just an individual problem).

- Assist in recognizing self-talk and emotions. Pole allows people to be in the present moment, where they can choose how to respond to emotions, thoughts, sensations, and memories.

- At your own level and pace, no standardized

- Practice vulnerability in a new away and regain self-trust.

- It is a form of mindfulness

- Supportive non-judgemental environment, self-care. Encourages being kind to yourself and going at your own pace. 

- Reconnecting body and mind, listen to your limits

- Explore your body at your own pace and what you can do through flexibility, endurance while spinning or turning upside down on a pole.

- Build up to being able to look at yourself in the mirror objectively and begin to change self-image.

Many of these changes are personal and take time, it's mostly underlying effects of the pole, as you train and feel empowered by the community and space.

From my experience, the difference between pole and many other sports is the sense of community and safety along with empowerment. It is learning your limits and moving in a new way, improving by looking at your reflection and slowly getting comfortable with what you see.
